Valentine’s Day was the perfect time of year to focus on being kind with my preschoolers! We focused on how kindness mattered to others we love. The kids could come up with lots of ways that their mommies were kind to them, but it was harder for them to think of ways that they could be kind to their mommies! After a few days, lots
Heart Roll to Fill Counting Game
Math games are a great way to add fun to learning. Preschoolers love to actively learn! Rolling dice, tossing a ball, or picking a card adds a hands-on opportunity to discover. The Roll to Fill math game can be played individually, with a partner, or in a group setting like circle time while working on number identification, counting, and one to one correspondence. The game
Mixing Colors: Making PINK!
Preschoolers love when 2 colors are mixed together and create a new color! We have mixed colors with cans of veggies, Christmas tree branches, medicine droppers, and our fingers so far this school year. Hands-down, rolling cans in a huge bin to make orange was my preschoolers favorite color mixing activity! They still talk about it 4 months later. This month, the colors
Dramatic Play In Preschool: Welcome to the ABC Market!
The 3 year-olds cannot get enough of themed dramatic play in preschool. Recently, our kitchen area was transformed into an ABC Market. The regular pretend food was removed and ABC magnet letters were added. And TA DA – the fun began! The simple change brought the fun and learning to a whole new level. The preschoolers then spent lots of time cooking letters and serving
Preschool Handwriting Practice {writing with mittens on!}
In my classroom the preschoolers hear, “Pinch your pencil please!” a lot. We’re working on pinching our markers, crayons, pencils, and pens to promote the correct handwriting position as their fine motor skills strengthen. PAINTING SURPRISES & Name Recognition!
It’s almost February, the month of love, friendship, and hearts in preschool! This activity was not only fun, it was a way to quickly assess each student with alphabet and name recognition. The preschoolers were given a white piece of cardstock and told to paint the whole entire paper. As the hearts and letters began appearing, they were so excited! When the name completely appeared,
Winter Theme Fun in Preschool!
Brrr…it’s officially winter! It may not be as cold as some parts of the country where we are, but the preschoolers are still enjoying all of our wintery activities in the classroom this month! I’ve added sparkly Frozen-themed play dough. The preschoolers are using ice blocks (Legos), polar animals, and ice picks (tees) while playing and pretending. We always have scissors out with play dough
