Spring Flower Play Dough Mat Activity

Preschoolers love to explore with play dough!  Play dough is a great tool for preschoolers to strengthen fine motor muscles in their little hands while learning and playing.  Themed play dough centers are a big hit in my classroom because they allow the kids to work independently.

Spring is just around the corner so flowers will be blooming soon!  Print the spring flower play dough mats {link at the end of the post} and let your preschoolers create beautiful flowers.  Have your children pinch some play dough and roll it into a ball or snake shape to create flower petals.  Choose a specific color flower or a certain number of petals for added learning fun.

The flower petal addition mat can be used by the older preschoolers who are working number recognition skills and who can count.  To play, roll a number and add that many petals to the first flower.  Roll again and add petals to the second flower.  Count the total number of petals on both flowers and add that number of petals to the last flower.
The addition play dough mat gives younger kids exposure to adding numbers!
