Community Helper Vehicles Count & Clip Cards

Learning about the people around our community who help us is always fun with preschoolers.  But what my preschoolers love the most are the vehicles that the community helpers get to ride around in.  I don’t know if it’s the wheels, the sirens that some of them have, or just the fact that cars and trucks are so cool to little kids, but they are always a hit!  Our community helper vehicles count and clip cards are the perfect addition to a community helpers theme.  Along with counting practice, the clip cards encourage fine motor strengthening too!

Community Helper Vehicles Count & Clip Cards

This printable set of count and clip cards includes 8 different community helper vehicles.  The counting cards include the numbers 1-12.

Setting up this activity is simple and takes no time!  Print the file from the pink box below and cut the cards apart on the dotted gray lines.  Store the community helper vehicles count and clip cards in a basket or tray along with 12 clothespins (my preschoolers insist on having one clothespin for each card).

Now you’re ready to play!

In my classroom, I use count and clip cards in circle time, small group time at a table, or as an independent activity.  It depends on the skill level of the children I’m working with.  I try to be good about introducing all activities together in circle time, so that my preschoolers can easily transition from our carpet area to our activities without frustration.

We have a set of community helpers figures in my classroom.  My preschoolers call the teacher, “Ms. Nicole.”  I swear she looks nothing like me!! But they are all about having fun when we learn, so using their hands to point and count the community helper vehicles adds a bit of silliness while encouraging more reluctant learners to play too.
