Super simple activities have a special place in my heart! I’m not one to spend hours prepping an activity that could be a total bust with my preschoolers. This is why I love printable activities like clip cards so much. Our robot color matching clip cards work on color matching and recognition skills, but only take minutes to prep and can be used over and over again!
Robot Color Matching Clip Cards
This printable robot color matching busy bag activity includes different cards with colored robot images on them. Each card has 3 different colored robot sprockets on the bottom.
Simply print the robot color matching clip cards from the file below. I printed them off on cardstock to make them a little more durable. Cut the cards apart on the gray dotted lines. You can laminate these cards if using in a group or classroom setting. Add clothespins to the set and you’re ready to play!
The object of the color matching activity is to match the robot color with the correct sprocket color. The clothespin will be clipped onto the correct match.
Modeling the correct way to match the colors is a great way to begin this activity. I use circle time for this. I’ll go through the cards and ask my preschoolers which one is the match. They always find it funny when they are telling me the correct answer, but I’m picking the wrong answers to show non-examples too.
After my preschoolers understand how to play, I will add this activity to an independent learning center for the morning.
After all of the robot matching color clip cards have been completed, take off the clothespins and play again!
I love adding activities to my preschool classroom that sneak in extra skills for my preschoolers. These clip cards not only work on color recognition and visual discrimination, but also strengthen fine motor skills and motor planning skills too!
