Easy peasy spider activity!
A spur of the moment activity turned into a favorite learning center in preschool last week. I don’t know if it was because the activity was so simple or because it included sticky paper, but my preschoolers continued to go back and play again and again!
Practice color matching and strengthen fine motor skills with these fun {and reusable!} sticky spiders!

Color Matching Sticky Spiders
Supplies needed:
- white paper
- Do a Dot Markers (bingo dotters)
- pom poms
- marker
- clear contact paper
- painters tape
Putting together this activity takes just minutes! I used the Do a Dot Markers (my favorites are the brilliant colored set) to add colored circle dots all over a large piece of white construction paper. I chose to use the same color dots as pom poms that I had on hand.
To make this activity less frustrating for preschoolers (those pom poms don’t stay still!), I covered the paper with contact paper.
The contact paper needs to be added so that the stick side is facing out. Do not let it stick to the spider paper.
I used painters tape to tape the contact paper to the top of our shelving unit in my classroom. I taped 2 separate spider papers so that multiple preschoolers could play at once. I added a small bucket of pom poms in the middle of the sticky spider mats for easy clean up.
My preschoolers rocked the color matching and loved the sticky contact paper! The nice thing about the contact paper and painters tape combination is that when little hands and fingers are pressed all over it, the painters tape keeps it in place!
If you want to add an additional learning element to the activity, add other colored pom poms to the bucket. Your child will have to look through the colors to find pom poms to match the dots on the spiders and use discrimination skills to do so.
