Busy bags are a great way for older preschoolers who are getting ready for kindergarten to stay engaged and learning over the summer. Printable games like the Initial Sounds Alphabet Puzzles are a low prep way to build up a variety of activities for your collection {for home or school!}.
My own preschooler loves activities like these puzzles. We get them out when we have down time and need a quiet activity…since nap time doesn’t exist anymore! They also come in handy when the big kids are doing homework after school and she needs her own “homework” to do.

Initial Sounds Alphabet Puzzles
Simply print out set of Alphabet Puzzles on cardstock paper at the end of the post. Separate the group of puzzles on each page into individual puzzles. At this point if you are planning on laminating the puzzle pieces, do it now before cutting all of the pieces apart. {this will make it easier for preschoolers to fit them back together without frustration}
Beginning Level Play – Mix up just a few sets of upper and lower case letter puzzle pieces for your little one to search through when trying find the correct pieces to the picture part of the puzzles. This will make it easier to to find the letters to finish the puzzle after figuring out which beginning sound all the pictures begin with.
Advanced Level Play – Mix up all 26 upper and lower case letter pieces on the table and then have your child try to find and match the picture puzzle pieces correctly.

The size of the puzzles are perfect for little hands, and can easily be stored in a ziploc bag when not in use. All 26 upper and lower case letters are included in this set. Each individual puzzle includes its own unique pieces for the letter pieces. This helps preschoolers self-correct their puzzle piece choices as they learn more about letters and initial sounds.

Mastering the letters and sounds of the alphabet takes lots of practice. My preschoolers LOVE our Alphabet Stamp – Spot – Write It activities!
