Super simple learning activities are needed when it comes to preschoolers and learning. And this is especially true in December! Our Christmas beads & jingle bell bracelet activity allows you to offer your preschoolers a reusable busy bag activity to practice hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, with the bonus of also creating a bracelet to bring home. You probably have the items needed for this learning activity in your December themed supplies too.
Christmas Beads & Jingle Bell Bracelets
Whether you are making Christmas beads and jingle bell bracelets or just working on adding beads to pipe cleaners, you will need the same supplies.
To set-up this table activity for your preschoolers, gather red, green, and white pony beads. These are the perfect size for preschoolers’ fingers to move and manipulate while strengthening those fine motor muscles.
Find pipe cleaners in Christmas colors. Cut them to different lengths and place them on a tray.
Add the pony beads to a small bowl or directly on the tray. Jingle bells are a fun addition to this activity, especially if you are making bracelets!
A fun twist to the Christmas beads & jingle bell bracelets is to just stick with pipe cleaners and beads. Cut the pipe cleaners at different lengths to allow for little hands to be able to hold the shorter pieces better. This will allow less frustration while placing beads on the ends for beginners.
Bend the pipe cleaner into zig zags to make getting the beads on to the pipe cleaner just a little more difficult.
Before it’s time to clean up, consider allowing your preschoolers the chance to create their own Christmas beads & jingle bell bracelet. In my classroom we would make these bracelets during circle time on the carpet. We also sing “Jingle Bells” while wearing them and shaking the jingle bells up and down as we sing!
