Intentionally add fine motor work to your morning routine as your pre-k and kindergarten students enter the room for the day.  Our Leaves Fine Motor Busy Bins are low prep with simple instructions!

The busy bin activities all include fine motor practice which is key to developing little hands that are ready for holding pencils, cutting with scissors, and tying shoes.

They are set up as completely independent morning work tub activities for pre-k.  The busy bins are also perfect to use with younger preschoolers during circle and small group time.

Print and prep the fine motor busy bins, and store them in small storage containers with lids (mine are from Walmart).  Switch out the 12 activities each time you switch themes.  Easy peasy!

What is a busy bin exactly?

A busy bin is similar to a busy bag activity.  You put the activity together and store it in a bin to be used over and over again. Busy bins are reusable learning activities – prep once and play forever!

LEAVES FINE MOTOR BUSY BINS

Squirrely Letters – Identify, trace, and build the letter on the card with beads, buttons, or acorns.

Acorn Clip Cards – Count the acorns in each basket and clip the number with a clothespin.

Play Dough Leaves – Roll and squish play dough into pretend leaves for the fall tree.

Leaf Trace Cards – Use a dry erase marker to trace the uppercase and lowercase letters.

Feed the Acorns – Identify the number on the card and add that number of acorns, pom poms, or mini erasers to the big mouth.

Fall Wikki Stix Shapes – Trace the shapes and patterns on the cards with Wikki Stix or pipe cleaners.

Leaf Stack – Roll a die and identify the number. Stack that number of mini erasers on the pile of leaves on the card. Keep rolling and stacking until the mini erasers fall!

Leafy 10 Frames –Fill in the 10 frame with the number of small acorns or pom poms, and then trace the number.

Leaf Letter Clip – Find and clip all of the letters around the leaf that match the letter of the word LEAF in the middle. 

Colorful Leaves– Sort colored pom poms with kid-friendly squeezers on the matching leaf color.

Feed the Squirrel – Make 10 on each card by drawing the acorns needed to give the squirrel 10 total.

Fall Pom Pom Pictures – Add the matching pom pom or button to each spot on the picture.

 

EXTRA SUPPLIES & MANIPULATIVES:

The printable pieces of each busy bin are included in the file.  Laminating the pieces is recommended.  The other supplies that are needed for this theme include:
